An Introduction

I am a professional educator with experience in higher education and public schools as a(n): assessment specialist, program evaluation facilitator, director of educational technology, adjunct faculty, faculty development specialist, instructional designer, curriculum director, classroom teacher, graduate student, researcher, trainer, speaker and consultant.

I am primarily interested in program review and evaluation, general education and classroom assessment, emerging instructional technologies, technology integration/diffusion and the general state of educational assessment and educational technology in all segments of the industry.  I actively engage the education community through online social networks, the blogging community and presentations and workshops at local, regional and national conferences.

I have spent the last eight years in higher education; currently, I work in comprehensive community colleges as a Director of Curriculum and Assessment and an adjunct faculty teaching microcomputer applications on campus and online. Through my own classes, I strategically apply a variety of technologies to facilitate and support social learning interactions with and among students as they actively, collaboratively, and authentically engage new learning experiences.

I earned my Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Learning and Technology from Texas A&M University.  My primary research focused on the computer literacy skills of early college learners and the implications the myths and realities of “neo-millenial” learners hold for college curriculum. My additional research interests included institutional integration of technology into learning environments, multi-user virtual environments, distance learning course and program evaluation, and assessment of learner discourse in online learning environments.

Away from professional circles, my wife of 14 years and three incredible daughters remind me daily why what I do is important. In short, I am a Husband, Father, Professional Educator, Teacher, Educational Technologist, Emerging Technology Enthusiast, Baseball Fan, Scholar, Speaker, Trainer, Geocacher, Football Fan, Fantasy Sports Fan, Blogger, RSS Addict and all around GeekDad.
