How do you use your mobile device?
A quick thought and question regarding mobile devices. How do you use your device(s)?
I have an iPhone 3GS with the current version of iOS. By the iTunes storage meter, I’m an app hound. I love apps. Have more on my phone than I ever use. I even have some apps on my phone exclusively for the opportunity to demonstrate a capability of this (or other mobile devices) – for educational, professional or personal use. I do take a lot of photos and videos – particularly of my kids – but I try to back them up and move them to our family collection of photos rather frequently, so I don’t carry many around on the phone – from a storage perspective at least. The majority of my audio is actually podcasts rather than music. The “Books” stat may be a bit deceiving since I also use non iBooks reading apps, so that may be an underestimate: Google Books, Nook, Kindle, kobo, Stanza etc. I’m wondering if that could be the “Other” data on my phone. I’ve wondered often if I should be using MORE of the storage space, but have never felt compelled to add more music or content simply for the sake of adding it; I figure I’ll eventually max it out and need to upgrade.
Asking the question of how we use our mobile devices then leads naturally into the question of how our students use their mobile devices. Your thoughts?
